Case Study: Paws Comforts

It is always a pleasure to be recommended to another design client. After working with Canine Wellbeing and Alison, a Canine Massage Therapist, I was then asked to help with her sister’s company that made custom dog beds. 

Paws Comforts is a family run small business that hand makes comfortable beds for dogs and even cats and rabbits. Under the name Snuggle Beds and Snuggle Blankets, plus fun accessories like dog snuffly mats. This is an amazing business ran part time around the ladies’ other work and planning on growing and selling at dog events when the pandemic is resolved. 

Paws Comforts has a facebook and Instagram page, but was in need of a brand identity moving forward. I know they are planning on creating a website soon also. My design brief was to create a quirky logo. There wasn’t any particular colour, but something bright and cheerful. 

I created some mood boards of colour schemes to consider and we narrowed it down to shades of oranges and blue with a splash of grey. Although the beds are predominantly for dogs, they are perfect for cats and other small animals to snuggle in. So we wanted a logo that demonstrated this. So a dog and cat would be suitable. So I designed the quirky dog and cat so that it gives the logo a little character and memorable to enhance Paws Comforts brand awareness. 

I will also be working on a business card shortly for them and would be delighted to help their branding grow in the future if they require. Although a lot of dog businesses are really struggling at this current time, it has been great to work with Paws Comforts and wish them well for their new ventures when the lockdown is ended and we can get back to work. I think we all need to stick together and think about the future, plan for the possibilities and hope we can get something positive out of this difficult time.
